Tasty Treats - Treat No. 1

Pink and White Wafers
These snacks are only 50 calories each and less than 2% fat which works perfect with my 5% fat diet rule!

They are sweet enough to curb a sugar craving and big enough for you to feel like you have actually eaten something!

Two crispy wafers with a sweet mallow filling

On top of all that they taste good too! Not quite as good as my beloved Haribo, but you can't have everything I guess!
Give them a go and let me know what you think!

My Food Journal

It's really hard to keep slim and trim when you're a chocoholic like myself. Abstaining from the treats I love just makes me want them more, so I tend to follow the 'everything in moderation' diet!
I don't cut anything out but don't eat too much bad stuff either. I have a daily calorie allowance and try to eat healthily in the working week to save up calories for the weekend.

One of the best things you can do is keep a food diary. If you log everything you eat and drink you'll be amazed how quickly the calories add up.
I use MyFitnessPal to keep track of everything. I have an app on my iPhone and can access my account online too. I don't use it because I'm obsessed with counting calories but so I can be aware of how much I'm eating and how good or bad it is for me. Plus if I'm good all week, then I have enough spare calories for pizza and wine at the weekends! As well as setting yourself a daily calorie allowance, I recommend no more then 5% fat per portion ( i.e. 5 grams per 100 grams you eat)
Try one of these online food journals to help you keep your calorie intake under control and allow yourself treats in moderation.

Shampoo in a Can

This morning I tried Batiste Boho dry shampoo. Trying to juggle work and wedding planning can leave you seriously short on time so I thought it could be a great save for busy B2Bs!
Batiste is quick and easy. Simply shake the can, spray, massage into the hair and then brush through.

Batiste claims to leave your hair clean, fresh and full of volume. Whilst it definitely removed any signs of grease and left a nice enough fragrance, I still don't feel like my hair is clean. Dry shampoo seems to disguise dirty hair rather than clean it.

Before Batiste

After Batiste

I'll hold onto my can of Batiste as it is a good product to have on standby for those mornings when I oversleep, but it's definitely a last resort.

Upstairs Goes Downstairs

There's a lot to think about in the run up to a wedding... Hair styles, make-up, nails etc.  But what about the other bits that may need grooming?  You know... Your private bits!

Well, to ensure your lady parts are in tip top condition, Ministry of Waxing have developed a ground breaking treatment...  The Brazilian 'Facial'!

This micro-dermabrasion technology treatment provides non-invasive exfoliation and is able to treat concerns including in-grown hair, acne and dehydration.  Following intensive research, three different facial treatments with active ingredients such as Super Peptides have been developed:

  • Light - for lightening dark patches and discoloration
  • Cleanse - for tackling in-grown hair and acne
  • Hydro - for deep hydration

The Brazilian Facial can be performed immediately after IPL or waxing and is suitable for Brazilian, Boyzilian and underarm areas.

Now before you ask, no I haven't tried it yet!  So I can't recommend this treatment from personal experience but if I pluck up the courage I'll be sure to let you all know!

The treatment costs around £60 and is available at London branches of Ministry of Waxing.  You can visit http://www.ministryofwaxing.com/ for more information.

The 7 Day Challenge

This week I am trying out Garnier's new Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion, specifically designed for dry, rough skin.

Garnier claims that this cocoa butter and L-Bifidus enriched lotion will leave your skin feeling hydrated for up to 7 days... sounds like a challenge to me!

This could be a saviour for busy brides-to-be so I really do hope it works!
You don't want to let your beauty regime slip in the weeks leading up to your wedding, but will probably find yourself increasingly short of time.  It would be great to have a moisturiser you could rely on to keep your skin soft and smooth even if you do miss a day or two of application.

I applied the moisturiser for the first time this morning so let's see how long the hydration lasts... Watch this space!...

Day One - The lotion is light and easily absorbed into the skin.  A little seems to go a long way and I really like it's subtle fragrance.  My skin is left feeling very soft and moisturised, but how long will it last?

02/03/11 Update:
Day Two - Skin still feels soft and smooth.  No signs of dryness yet!

03/03/11 Update:
Day Three - I've managed to resist the urge to moisturise for yet another day.  Still no sign of cracked heels of elbows but skin isn't feeling as smooth.  I've got my moisturiser on standby for tomorrow!

04/03/11 Update:
Day Four - It all came to an end this morning.  My skin felt tight and dry and moisturiser simply had to be applied!  Still, not a bad result for Garnier.  One application of Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion lasted a full 3 days before my skin showed signs of dryness which is quite impressive.  I still believe in moisturising daily but at least now if I do miss a day or two my skin won't suffer too much for it!
